The story of us began a long time ago. When we only manufactured hand-spun fabric and traded in all types of cotton handloom cloth. Life was not so difficult in those times with purchasing and selling being the only two prime bulwarks of business. Money was a part of it . . . . never the fulcrum . . . . especially in the business which sprang from the fountain of hand-woven cloth, made famous by the Mahatma. The year was 1948 . . . . India was free and the future was as good as it could be. 50 years has taught us a lot of things . . . . never to take the future for granted, and most importantly, a most unusual acronym . . . . IOP . . . . innovate or perish. Circa 2001. Four young people get together in a venture which could create a yawning niche in the business of ready made wear. The niche of the hand-woven garment. A business worth 12800 crores of conservative estimates. All we are looking for is 0.1% share in the first two years. Roughly translated, it means 12.8 crores of business in 24 months. That by no stretch of imagination is a green mile. |
